Goddard Space Flight Center
Leadership Alchemy Program

Testimonials

Past participants, along with their supervisors, mentors, coaches, and co-workers offered solicited and unsolicited feedback regarding the power of Leadership Alchemy. The following are some illustrative quotes:

Past Participants

"I found LAP to be very enlightening, both organizationally and personally.  Although I tend to be rather introspective anyway, I learned much about myself and learned much from the other participants and facilitators.  It has certainly helped me make some "leadership moves" that I may not have made prior to going through the program.

Unlike many training programs that are academically oriented or involve mostly listening, LAP requires active participation from everyone.  While there were some aspects of the program that I found uncomfortable or difficult, such as the fixed-date commitments spanning several months, I suppose that was part of the "growing" process.  And it's true to say that, like many things in life, one gets out of the program as much as one puts into it.

I truly believe that LAP is a model leadership training program and should continue to be supported by the center and the agency."
– Michael Wright

"LAP challenges you to examine the way you live your life - both at work and at home. It will change your life."
–Bill Cutlip

"Take LAP and all your wildest dreams will come true."
–Pam Millar

"Leadership Alchemy gives you the power to distinguish and focus on what's really important, i.e. relationship to ourselves and with the rest of our world."
–Willa Gaitanis

"I learned the power and importance of asking open-ended questions. I really feel that Leadership Alchemy is the engine of the culture change the CAIB report is calling for. In order for us to change the culture of NASA, we must first examine our own behavior, and change the way we think, act, and lead. Leadership Alchemy is a strong driver for change, and I've seen the changes in myself and the way I work with others.

Other programs teach you to be managers. This program is teaching me to be a real leader. I'm more confident, I'm better able to prioritize, and better able to influence and enable others. I feel more confident about my ability to support change and make a difference."
–Emma Antunes

"This leadership program provided me with excellent skills for influencing others and advocating change in the organization. Through this program, I established a supportive network of fellow change agents. Together, we are making Goddard an even better place to work."
–Kelly Behrle

More

"I draw strength from working with such empowered individuals. To the extent that other people feel the same, the organization becomes a synergetic place to work successes, breeding successes."

"I saw two significant changes displayed. I felt she developed confidence in herself. This was displayed in her contributions during meetings and program reviews where she normally sat by quietly. She became an active member in her project's weekly and performing her duties as the Mission Business Manager to the Project Mission Manager. I also noticed she was learning to work as a team member with peers who had varied personalities. I believed that she learned through LAP to be more understanding and tolerant of the personalities of her team, and to be a successful team member, she needed to adapt to work with all."

"Organizational benefit in the area of cooperation... Greater cooperation has lead to a better work environment for all. Also, she became a greater asset to the project in her willingness to speak out and exchange information amongst team members."
